Lesson 3: Mechanism Construction

A link is defined as a member or a combination of members within a mechanism that connects other members while allowing relative motion between them. A link can consist of one or more rigid bodies.

Below are some examples of basic linkage mechanisms:

Corner Linkage Mechanism

Corner Linkage Mechanism - three golden wooden strips connected at a central pivot point forming a Y or corner shape

Cross Linkage Mechanism

Cross Linkage Mechanism - two golden wooden strips crossed and connected at a central pivot point forming an X shape

Parallel Linkage Mechanism

Parallel Linkage Mechanism - four golden wooden strips connected at corner pivot points forming a rectangular frame
